Step by step
- Open the Redact PDF tool and choose your PDF.
- Enter the page number. The page appears as a preview.
- Drag with your finger or mouse to draw black boxes over what you want to hide. Press Clear marks to start again.
- Press Start. The page is saved with the boxes burned in, and you download the new file.
Tips
- The redacted page becomes a picture, so the hidden text is really gone and cannot be copied from behind the boxes.
- This tool changes one page at a time. Run it again for other pages.
- Look at the result before you share it, to make sure everything private is covered.
Common questions
Is a black box on a normal PDF safe?
Not always. On many PDFs the text stays underneath. This tool turns the page into a picture, so nothing is hidden behind the box.
Does it change the other pages?
No. Only the page you chose is changed.
